Going for (real) Gold
Basically a pretty sad message. A contest for philatelic websites, had to be called off.
That’s why there won’t be a public award. Too bad, because it was a nice initiative. That could have meant that the worst should be feared for the site contest organised by ‘Stamp2.com’. The set-up is entirely different, though. The editors of that site themselves judge philatelic websites ‘all over the world’, on the basis of a list of quality criteria, which can lead to a virtual medal for a website : silver, gilded silver or gold. Sites can – if they progress – get better appreciations : from silver to gilded silver and from gilded silver to gold. Once a site gets gold, it can still progress, namely to ‘great gold’. Who’s awarded in that way, gets a ‘real’ (professionally minted) medal. Once a year, the best site is chosen from all participants which got gold. That website then gets the Grand Prix d’Honneur, which is also a real medal. Interested ? Go to ‘www.Stamp2.com’.
