Reversed printing.
Important action at Hafnia.
Concerned are the Greenlandic 0,25 k stamps which were provided in 1995 with a new imprint,“4,25”, because of a tariff change. An unknown number of sheets was put wrongly on the printing press by the priinter. As a result, there is now a number of reversed imprints.
The Greenlandic postal services managed to get back 10 sheets of “wrong” stamps, but still there were some sheets that came into the hands of collectors.
From the 10 sheets owned by Greenland Post, six were given to Danish crown prince Frederik on September 7th, 2001. He immediately let them be auctioned. The yield will – and that was the purpose of the whole matter – go to a charity: the Greenlandic “Save The Children” fund. The fund will use the money for the so-called Quanaaq project. Quanaaq is the most northern city on Greenland. There’s not much sun, a high unemployment figure and, thus, not the best circumstances thinkable off. The families which suffer the most will be supported with the money raised by selling the stamps (the auctioneer guaranteed a minimal yield of 1 million Danish crowns).
