Van Dieten auctions Belgian-Dutch rariteit
As usual, lots of philatelic delicacies are auctioned by Van Dieten, among which the specialised collection of W. Guillaume of France.
One of the highlights was auctioned on September 14th: a cover with two stamps of the first emision that was sent from Driebergen to Brussels in 1854. What is so special about the stamps is that they were not stamped in the Netherlands but in Brussels. The quite clever Belgian post officer that discovered this omission, stamped the stamps with his officer stamp ‘33’. As mentioned in the security catalogue, this is a ‘large first emission rarity’ that would do extremely well in an exhibition collection. Taxation: 15000 euro!
